I must be eternally hungry — I keep finding myself writing food blogs lately!

Over the last several months, I’ve been on a personal food tour — trying new restaurants around town and venturing outside my usual go-tos. From cozy diners to bold international spots, I’ve made it a mission to try something new every week. Lately, Ethiopian cuisine has been winning me over, thanks to my love of rich spices, deep flavors, and shareable dishes.
Silver Spring is full of standout options. Beteseb Restaurant offers a cozy, home-cooked feel with big flavor. Their vegetarian combo is colorful, satisfying, and beloved by both locals and food critics alike.
Elilta Restaurant impressed me with its warmth — both in the food and the service. Their fish goulash and tibs are full of flavor, and the coffee and baklava make for the perfect ending.
Abyssinia Ethiopian Restaurant delivers that classic, traditional experience — no fuss, just solid dishes that hit the spot.
I haven’t tried Effoi yet, but based on the rave reviews, it’s high on my list. People love the food, service, and vibe, so I’ll be checking it out soon.
So far though, my personal favorite is Shalla Restaurant. If you want bold flavors in a spot that feels more like a lounge, Shalla nails it. The atmosphere is lively but relaxed, and the customer service has been consistently amazing — warm, attentive, and friendly.
If you’re into flavor-packed food and fun vibes, Ethiopian cuisine in Silver Spring is definitely worth exploring.
